You don't have to log in to read this wiki. You don't even have to log in to edit articles — anyone can edit almost any article, even without logging in. However, creating an account is quick, free, and non-intrusive. One of the great advantages of logging in is that you get to avoid the ads, except for those on the main page, and there are a number of other benefits:

• full credit for the contributions attributed to your chosen username
• your own permanent user page where you can write a bit about yourself, display a few pictures, etc.
• a permanent user talk page you can use to communicate with other users.
