All contributions to Wikia are released under the GNU Free Documentation License. GFDL or public domain images are strongly preferred on Wikia. Copyright-violating images are subject to deletion.

Before you upload an image Edit

Before you upload an image, make sure that either: you own the image; that it is in the public domain; or that the copyright holder has agreed to license it under the GFDL. If you want to consider release under other forms of licence (for example a Creative Commons licence) please check for advice from Wikia see for example wikicities:Wikia_copyrights, wikicities:Forums/Copyright
Further and extensive guidelines, for example listing other forms of licence, exists on wikipedia. For example see wikipedia:Wikipedia:Image_copyright_tags#Tagging_options

Information about licensing Edit

Please add information about the licence under which the image is being released, to the image description page of each uploaded image. In most cases this should be GFDL or public domain.

Information about the image's origin Edit

Please provide useful details about the image's origin. If you created the image, for example, write image created by Jo Bloggs on Jan 1st, 2005 (replacing Jo Bloggs with your name, and Jan 1st, 2005 with the image creation date), or something with a form such as 'Photo credit: Jo Bloggs' which may also be used on image captions.
