Get Walking Day highlights the minimum of 30 minutes of physical activity at least 5 times per week recommended by the (UK) Department of Health, and aims to raise awareness amongst people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities about the health, social and environmental benefits benefits of walking.

Regular walking can help people control their weight and lower their risk of heart disease and stroke. Get Walking Day is supported by the Ramblers' Association. [1]
