This article is intended to be about the general features which help or encourage community action for sustainability.

Preliminary listing[]

(in no particular order as yet)

  • Inclusion - an inclusive, whole community or stakeholder approach
  • Evidence - strong, robust, shared evidence of the need or desirability of change
  • Vision - an idea of where the community wants to get to
  • Resources - community action can be very good at doing a lot with a little. There can be very different views as to what resources may be available, but often community action can take a much more inclusive approach through encouraging local citizens and communities themselves to value and appreciate what they themselves have to offer. Sustainability isn't just something for experts. It's about everyone's quality of life and we all have a part to play.
