Ecuador, officially the Republic of Ecuador (Spanish: República del Ecuador) is a representative democratic republic in South America, bounded by Colombia on the north, by Peru on the east and south, and by the Pacific Ocean on the west. The country also includes the Galápagos Islands (Archipiélago de Colón) in the Pacific. Ecuador is the Spanish word for equator.

- Cloud Forest Institute is a scientific and educational organization formed in 1996. CFI works to offer students educational alternatives in international settings that address issues of environmental and social significance thru Service Learning while striving to exist sustainably with the natural environment. CFI is currently (summer 2006) working at sites in tropical Andean cloud forest of Ecuador, South America.
